Olive oil helps to slow the cooking process and is very stable at high temperatures, making it an excellent choice for many different types of cooking methods.
Many people associate extra virgin olive oil only with the preparation of salads and dressings, but in fact it’s a healthy and tasty substitute for butter or vegetable oil in almost every aspect of cooking. Olive oil is the juice of a fruit, whereas the majority of vegetable oils are obtained from seeds. Extra virgin olive oil enhances the palatability of food, especially less fattier foods, making them more appetising. It is a choice ingredient for all raw foods, or for pouring on toasted bread, and to make dressings or seasonings for cold dishes. It also makes an exceptional addition to hot dishes such as cooked vegetables, soups, sauces and bread making.
Olive Oils of varying degrees of fruitiness can be used, depending upon whether a strong or mild flavour is desired, and it is well suited for frying, roasting, and baking because of its stability.
